Sunayu Beach is on the shore of Lake Kussharo, but the ‘beach’ itself is not at all tempting. Now, if you dig into the gravelly sand, the infill water will be hot and you can make your own mini-onsen! It was late in the afternoon and we only saw two people doing this, but the carpark was large so presumably this place is quite popular?

It would seem that whenever you find a lake in Japan, you will find these swan boats. These are peddle-powered boats which you can rent and are very popular.
